• Do cities and their surrounding regions develop in a predictable manner?
  • How can regions undergo more prosperous, equitable and inclusive transitions?
  • How can ecosystems science be harnessed to better understand and manage economic systems?
  • What determines the resilience and adaptability of regions?

These are the types of questions we seek to answer at the Laboratory for Regional Dynamics and Development. We are equally passionate about uncovering the fundamental properties of regional systems and translating that knowledge into practical, data-driven tools to support decision makers. Our research is not framed by any single discipline but is motivated by socially relevant questions and potential solutions that transcend both disciplinary boundaries and academia. Our overarching goal is to develop the understanding that can enhance the well-being, sustainability and future prosperity of cities and regions.
