The 4th edition of the CBIE International Winter School concludes in Tempe, AZ

The fourth edition of the International Winter School on Agent-Based Modeling of Social-Ecological Systems was held in Tempe, AZ from January 6-10, 2020. The Winter School is an activity of the network for Computational Modeling in Social and Ecological Sciences (, a NSF sponsored network that aims to improve the way we develop, share, use, and re-use agent-based and other computational models for the study of social and ecological systems. Seventeen participants, graduate students, postdocs and faculty, from different continents came to Tempe for a 5-day long immersive experience that combined lectures on social and ecological sciences, hands-on education on best-practices for computational modeling, and group-projects with individual instructors building on models of existing projects such as water governance in Mexico city, evacuation to hurricanes in Florida and resource sharing in environments with high uncertainty.
